Lucy Neatby is an internationally recognized teacher, designer, and writer who thrills knitters around the world with her inimitable charm, knowledge, and uniquely colourful designs. Her passion of nurturing and empowering knitters, and putting them in control of their art, is legendary!
I have never tried knitting socks inside one another or knitting a tube within a tube and I am looking forward to trying this as
I and others learn new skills. Lucy is a wonderful teacher and a great person. Lucy is so well know for her fabulous teachings that she is well booked 2-3 years
in advance. After waiting over a year for an opening, we are proud to offer her illustrious classes to you!
Below are the classes we will be offering the weekend of October 9th.
Dabble into Doubles: 3 hours
Gain an insight and deeper understanding of your knitting. Try a variety of types of double knitting to produce 2 layer fabrics.
You will start with tubular knitting on straight needles, open and condensed bind-off methods and learn the
magnificent double-knit pocket trick. Using 2 yarns you will be introduced to positive and negative dk color knitting and quilting techniques for added
texture and warmth.
Colors, the more the Merrier
Free yourself from the tyranny of dye lots and find uses for your odds and ends. Experiment and play with yarns, learn about yarn storage, handling and preparation of palettes for your projects. Compose your own yarn without spinning and blend your own colours without a dyepot by mixing weights and fibres. We will try a variety of techniques including gradual shading, stranded knitting and intarsia, both controlling colours and using random oddball techniques. Embellishing or removing colour ‘errors’.
Supplies
Needles; a 5mm / US# 8/9 x 40 - 60 cm circular or • an 8” set of needles.
Bring small amounts (minimum 10g) of a variety • of types (if possible) of yarns - approx DK/Sport weight or finer in at least 8 (solid, not variegated) colours.
Include a couple of fine or fingering weight yarns. • Remember the more colours = the more fun!
Usual knitting tackle.
There is a maximum of 20 seats per each class session. Sign up and advance reservation are required. $50.00 per class to hold your seat with the balance due by October 1st. If we sell out as predicted on all classes, the fees will be less.

This sport weight sock yarn is infused with Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil and comes in a new color for each season! It will soften your hands while you knit with it, and soften your feet while while you are wearing it! This is a blend of 75% wool and 25% nylon with 410 yards per 150 gram skein. It knits up on US 5-7 needles, yielding 5.25-6 stitches per inch. Works up in vibrant colors and is suitable for garments too!

Soft and colorful, machine washable and very fun to work with. These yarns are long on yardage and can be used for so many other items besides socks.
The weight is great for sweaters in our region and children's clothing is a snap to launder with these machine washable yarns.
